ASUS Prime B550M-K, AMD B550 motherboard - Socket AM4

The B550 chipset is the heart of the ASUS Prime B550M-K motherboard and has been specifically optimized for the Ryzen 3000 series Matisse and 5000 series Vermeer CPUs. B550 motherboards support all features of the third and fourth generation Ryzen processors, most notably the PCI Express standard version 4.0 (PCIe 4.0). PCIe 4.0 is backward compatible and can be used with all expansion cards from previous generations. The motherboards also support up to 128 GB of RAM with a guaranteed clock speed of 3,200 MHz. Depending on the motherboard, significantly higher clock speeds are possible with overclocking. The B550 chipset also allows processor overclocking.

The ASUS Prime B550M-K is a Micro-ATX motherboard and features a PCI Express 4.0 slot with full x16 connectivity for graphics cards. The motherboard provides two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots for additional expansion cards. The four RAM banks support up to 128 GB of DDR4 memory with a clock speed of up to 3,200 MHz and can even handle clock speeds of up to 4,800 MHz when overclocked.

The AM4 motherboard provides two M.2 slots. One slot is connected to the processor via four PCI Express lanes and supports PCIe 4.0 and SATA 6G for drives up to 110 mm long (22110). The second M.2 slot is connected to the chipset via four PCI Express lanes and supports PCIe 3.0 and SATA 6G for drives up to 80 mm long (2280). Four SATA 6G connectors are also provided.

Modern Connections
The ASUS Prime B550M-K features two USB 3.1 ports and four USB 3.0 Type-A ports on the I/O panel. For CPUs with integrated graphics, an HDMI, a DVI, and a VGA port are available. This B550 motherboard also offers features such as a Gigabit LAN port (Realtek RTL8111H) and on-board sound (Realtek ALC887 audio codec). Furthermore, three fans can be connected directly to the board.
