Seagate IronWolf HDD, SATA 6G, 7200 rpm, 3.5 inches - 8 TB

The drive has a modern SATA-6G interface, a 256 MB buffer and the platters rotate at 7,200 revolutions per minute. Due to the reduced speed, the HDD has a low power consumption of only 8.8 watts and can also transfer data with a sustained data throughput of brisk 210 MB / s.

The Ironwolf series NAS hard drives feature Seagates AgileArray technology. This offers improved hard drive balance, RAID optimization and reduced power consumption. The advanced troubleshooting control ensures that the hard drive conforms to NAS system requirements and enables better data integrity.

Reliability is improved by reducing the vibration effects that typically occur in multi-disk solutions. This is made possible by integrated sensors for measuring rotational vibrations (RV). Optimized power profiles enable low power consumption for NAS applications with continuous operation.

The plate is also filled with helium and hermetically sealed. Helium is only one-seventh the density of air, which is why replacing air with helium in a hard disk drive significantly reduces the air turbulence caused by the rotating disks. This also minimizes power consumption and temperatures, which enables Seagate to offer more discs in a traditional 3.5-inch form factor.

This design offers 50 percent capacity gain while still saving up to 23 percent energy. The hard drive consumes only 8.8 watts during operation and runs approximately four to five degrees below the temperature of standard hard drives. With 7.6 W in idle and 0.6 in standby mode, the remaining power consumption values of the IronWolf-HDD are also relatively low.

Note: Please note that this hard disk model with 26.11 mm is slightly higher than is the case with most other 3.5 inch HDDs. If necessary, measure whether the hard drive can fit into your PC, your NAS or into your external hard drive housing.
