The NF-F12-PWM Chromax.Black.Swap from the Austrian fan and cooler specialist Noctua is a state-of-the-art fan in 120 mm format with PWM function. In the Chromax Black version, the popular fan is now also available in black in response to multiple customer requests. A number of measures make it the ideal choice as a powerful and quiet CPU cooler or radiator fan.
Because fans for this purpose should build up a particularly high static pressure in order to be able to convey the air through the sometimes very wide heat sinks. The NF-F12-PWM Chromax.Black.Swap meets this requirement with up to 2.61 mmH2O precisely.
The technical basis for such a good value – at only a maximum of 1,500 rpm and a maximum of 22.4 dB (A)! – is the Focused Flow frame specially developed by Noctua. Eleven so-called stator guide vanes are used to straighten and focus the air flow.
The airflow itself is generated by the heptaperf rotor with its seven fan blades. Thanks to the further developed SSO2 bearing, even greater smoothness is achieved compared to previous products. Many other measures make the NF-F12-PWM Chromax.Black.Swap a powerful quiet walker.
The stator guide vanes are arranged with varying angular distances between 31 and 37 degrees and have the well-known notches called Vortex Control Notches. Both measures help to distribute the noise emission over a wider frequency range, making the fan sound less annoying to the human ear.
But beyond these psychoacoustic optimizations, the NF-F12-PWM Chromax.Black.Swap can also be used objectively very quietly. Because of the PWM functionality, its speed can be regulated directly from the mainboard. Noctuas self-developed NE-FD1 PWM control chip is used, which allows the fan to work very quietly and economically, especially in the lowest speed range. It also has anti-vibration pads made of silicone on the corners to minimize noise. They are included in the colours black, white, yellow, green, red and blue.
