The ASUS PRIME X470-Pro Gaming is an ATX-format motherboard and features a fast PCI Express 3.0 slot with full x16 connectivity for graphics cards and another PCI Express 3.0 slot with x8 connectivity. The four RAM banks hold up to 64 GB of DDR4 memory with a clock rate of up to 2,933 megahertz and can even handle clock rates of up to 3,466 MHz via the OC.

The Socket AM4 motherboard provides two M.2 slots with PCIe connectivity. M.2 SSDs connected via four PCI Express 3.0 lanes, in conjunction with the NVM Express Advanced Protocol (NVMe), support data transfer rates of up to 32 Gbps, up to eight times faster than SATA-6G HDDs. The second M.2 slot is connected to PCIe 3.0 x2, but shares the bandwidth with the first and the second PCIe x1 slot and offers only SATA6G speed when used.

The ASUS PRIME X470 Pro Gaming I / O panel has a Type-C USB 3.0 port. The new USB type C port is very thin and can be plugged in on both sides. In addition, there are two USB 3.1 ports. USB 3.1 or USB 3.1 Gen 2 achieves maximum speeds of 10 Gbit / s per port. USB ports with this standard also support the quick-charging feature of mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets.

Special features include RGB lighting and gaming-specific features – such as the generous heatsinks for the VRMs and M.2 SSDs. For control and automatic synchronization with other RBG components via Aura Sync, the ASUS PRIME X470 Pro Gaming also has two headers for static RGB LEDs.
