The ASRock TRX50 WS in detail:
The ASRock TRX50 WS is one of the Workstation motherboards for AMDs Ryzen Threadripper 7000 CPUs offer a wealth of features for the desktop workstation platform. The combination of the sTR5 socket and the TRX50 chipset is required for the Threadripper 7000 series HEDT processors to support their numerous business and professional features.

Other key features of the ASRock TRX50 WS motherboard include a WLAN/BT module (Intel WiFi 6E, 802.11ax) and two LAN ports with 2.5 and 10 Gbps each (Marvell AQC113, Dragon RTL8125BG). For audio, the manufacturer relies on the Realtek ALC1220 audio codec. This provides two 3.5mm jacks and an optical Toslink output on the I/O panel.

Ports for every need
The motherboard features one USB 3.2 port (USB 3.2 Gen 2×2). This always takes the form of a USB Type-C connector and achieves a maximum data transfer rate of 20 Gbps. Another port supports USB 3.1. The I/O panel also features four USB 3.1 Type-A ports. USB 3.1 and USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports reach maximum speeds of 10 Gbps each. Finally, there are two USB-A 3.0 ports with a maximum transfer rate of 5 Gbps.

Internally, the motherboard offers a USB 3.1 Type-C port for modern PC cases. In addition, two USB 3.0 ports (one header) and four USB 2.0 ports (two headers) are provided.

Expansion Slots and Drive Connectors
For expansion cards and expansion cards, the E-ATX motherboard provides three PCIe x16 slots in the 5.0 standard and two in the PCIe 4.0 standard. For connecting storage devices such as SSDs and hard drives, one M.2 PCIe 5.0 and one M.2 PCIe 4.0 slot are provided, each connected directly to the CPU via four PCI Express 4.0 lanes. Note:
TRX50 motherboards are only compatible with AMD Threadripper 7000 series processors. The sTR5 (SP6) socket differs from other Threadripper sockets due to its different pin assignment and is not compatible with older Threadripper CPUs or all CPUs in the Threadripper 7000 Pro series!

Note: Due to the size of the Ryzen Threadripper CPU, the sTR5 (SP6) socket differs significantly from conventional sockets. When installing the CPU, please carefully follow the instructions in the CPU or motherboard installation manual! This is an LGA socket! The pins are located on the socket, not the CPU.
