Thermal Grizzly Delid-Die-Mate For Intel 13th and 14th Gen

The Delid-Die-Mate Intel 13th Gen from Thermal Grizzly is a tool for removing the heat spreader (delidden) on Intel processors from the Alder Lake and Raptor Lake series. With the so-called direct die, the CPU cooler is mounted directly on the processor chip.

By omitting the heat spreader in the cooling circuit, a significantly optimized heat transfer from the die to the CPU cooler is possible.

The Thermal Grizzly Delid-Die-Mate Intel 13th Gen in detail
The Delid-Die-Mate Intel 13th Gen from Thermal Grizzly is a tool for removing the heat spreader (delidden) on Intel processors from the Alder Lake and Raptor Lake series. With the so-called direct die, the CPU cooler is mounted directly on the processor chip. By omitting the heat spreader in the cooling circuit, a significantly optimized heat transfer from the die to the CPU cooler is possible.

Why Delidding & Direct Die Method on Intel Processors?
During delidding, or heading, the processors heat spreader is removed. For unsoldered processors, delidding is usually used to replace the thermal conductive agent (TIM) between the CPU die and heat spreader with high-quality thermal paste or liquid metal before the heat spreader is reassembled. However, since the 13th Gen Intel Core processors are soldered, this is not an option as removing the indium solder would create too large of a gap between the IHS and CPU dies.

Thats why the 13th Gen Intel Core CPUs are primarily delidded for the possible installation of the CPU cooler directly on the CPU dies. Experience has shown that by omitting the heatpsreader and mounting the CPU cooler directly on the die, temperatures can be reduced by 10-15 degreesC when liquid metal such as Conductonaut is used as the TIM. A corresponding test with an Intel Core i9-13900K was carried out by content creator and tech YouTuber Roman der8auer Hartung, professional overclocker and engineer.

Attention: Removing the heat spreader (decapping) of a processor is done at your own risk! If the CPU is removed, the manufacturers warranty expires! Damage caused by removing the CPU is not covered by the manufacturers warranty!
