The Jonsbo N6 is the newest member of the Jonsbo NAS case family—built for NAS duty, but designed to go well beyond it. With nine hot-swap drive positions, support for a full-size graphics card, and extensive cooling provisions, the N6 is equally at home as a personal PC platform, home server, or compact workstation.

A key highlight is the N6’s split-compartment internal structure, separating the motherboard area into upper and lower zones. This creates a clean, practical layout with broad configuration flexibility—ideal for storage-heavy builds that still need room for serious compute hardware.

On the outside, the N6 keeps things low-key and elegant: mesh ventilation panels on multiple sides promote airflow, while a narrow wooden inlay on the front panel adds a refined design touch without drawing unnecessary attention.

From storage powerhouse to compact workstation
Despite its NAS focus, the N6 is ready for performance builds. With four expansion slots and GPU clearance up to 320 mm, it can comfortably support everything from a media server with a transcoding GPU to a compact workstation.

GPU clearance depends on your front cooling configuration:
– Up to 320 mm graphics cards (standard configuration)
– Up to 305 mm with a 25 mm thick front fan installed
– Up to 275 mm when using a front-mounted water-cooling setup with 55 mm total thickness

Nine-bay hot-swap storage with SATA/SAS support
Storage is the N6’s core strength. It supports nine drives total—either nine 3.5″ HDDs or nine 2.5″ SSDs—and pairs them with a server-grade hot-swap SATA/SAS backplane designed for long service life.

To improve long-term drive thermals, the internal spacing is designed so drives can maintain a ventilation gap (recommended ≥5 mm, depending on drive thickness), helping reduce heat build-up during continuous operation.

Backplane power notes (important)
The backplane provides 4 power inputs (PATA ×2 + SATA ×2). Typical consumer hard drives generally work with fewer connected power inputs, but higher inrush/current enterprise drives are recommended to use all four power connections to ensure reliable spin-up. Also, only one power connector should be fed from a single cable—avoid connecting multiple backplane power plugs from the same PSU cable run.

Cooling built for continuous operation
The N6 is designed around airflow. Mesh ventilation on multiple sides helps prevent heat build-up, and the case includes dedicated cooling support for both the storage area and the main hardware chamber.

For liquid cooling, the N6 supports a 240 mm AIO configuration, and CPU cooler clearance ranges from 65 mm to 160 mm (depending on layout and component choices).
