Corsair VS450: A Fantastic Budget Power Supply
The Corsair VS450 is a reliable power supply and is ideal for desktop PCs at home or in the office. The power supply features a 36 A +12 Volt rail, a whisper-quiet temperature-controlled 120 mm fan as well as extensive protection against short circuits, overvoltage, insufficient voltage as well as protection against power and temperature spikes. Taken together these features ensure stable operation in the long term.
The especially high efficiency of 85 percent on average makes the power supply extremely efficient and as a result there is much less heat produced and power requirements are minimised – a blessing in the days of ever increasing electricity bills. The ATX 2.31 standard of the power supply also offers a broad range of hardware compatibility choices.
At 450 Watts the power supply is ideal for a range of tasks. In contrast to most of manufacturers, Corsair does not rely on split 12 V railed, instead opting for one single rail offering more than sufficient power – in this case 36 A of current and 432 Watts. This makes sure the power supply can cope even with rather powerful CPUs and graphics cards.
To this end a 20+4-Pin and a 4+4-Pin motherboard connector as well as two 6+2-Pin PCIe connectors are available. For drives etc the power supply offers seven SATA-, two 4-Pin Molex connectors as well as one floppy connector. All connectors are supplied with ample cable lengths to ensure compatibility with large cases. The cables are sleeved for improved aesthetics and increased durability.
