Technical Highlights
The fin structure of this Eisblock cooler generation was developed in collaboration with Nvidia board partners. The fins are 0.4 mm thick, and the spacing between them is also 0.4 mm. This ensures excellent water flow while increasing the available cooling surface area. The nozzle plate features a redesigned inlay that better distributes water pressure across the fins and optimizes heat absorption. The optimized water inlet provides a better entry angle for the water.
Chrome-plated copper
The cooler is made entirely of chrome-plated copper. Chrome plating is significantly harder than nickel plating and therefore less susceptible to acids, scratches, and damage. The risk of nickel plating flaking off is thus completely eliminated. Additionally, chrome plating has a much more homogeneous appearance and a luster that nickel plating cannot achieve. Chrome-plated coolers have previously only been used in the industrial sector, in areas where coolers are subjected to extreme conditions.
Design
The Aurora design of the GeForce RTX 40XX Eisblock generation is visually calmer and more understated. Only one O-ring surrounds the entire cooler. The design around the cooling fins and the jet plate ensures a cleaner look. Thanks to the chrome plating, the illumination of the digitally addressable RGB LEDs is even better distributed within the cooler. The terminal’s shape corresponds to the classic Aurora design.
Thermal Paste & Thermal Pads
The included thermal paste is Alphacool’s Subzero. With a thermal conductivity of 16 W/mK, it is among the highest-performing thermal pastes on the market. The electrically non-conductive thermal grease is particularly well-suited for high contact pressures, yet its viscosity of 850,000 TF allows for perfect application. Alphacool Soft Pads, 1 mm thick, are used on the voltage regulators and graphics memory. These pads have a thermal conductivity of 7 W/mK. The pads for the back of the PCB are 3 mm thick and have a thermal conductivity of 3 W/mK.
