The Western Digital Black SN850X NVMe SSD is a particularly small M.2 SSD. It is installed in the M.2 slot of the same name and addressed via the NVMe interface and connected via four PCI Express 4.0 lanes. The 1 TB Western Digital Black SN850X NVMe SSD achieves extremely high read and write rates of 7,300 and 6,300 MB/s respectively.

This is also thanks to the 3D NAND TLC flash with 112 layers and the in-house controller from Western Digital, including a 1 GB DDR4 cache.
