With such enormous performance, of course, there is waste heat, which may even slow down the transfer rate of the storage. Thats why it makes perfect sense to additionally cool M.2 SSDs.
The Silverstone SST-TP02-M2 Passive Cooler is for M.2 SSDs and is compatible with size 2280 (width 22mm, length 80mm). It allows an M.2 SSD to be efficiently cooled to low operating temperatures. The passive heat sink is made of black anodized aluminum and is mounted directly onto the adapter card with a thermal pad and two silicone straps.
Included in the packaging are a total of three thermal pads. The blue is attached to the heat sink. The two gray thermal pads are each 1 millimeter and 1.5 millimeters thick. The former is for double-sided M.2s, the latter for one-sided memory cards.
This heatsink with Intels 760p series as well as the 960 EVO and PRO, 970 EVO and PRO as well as SM951 and SM961 from Samsung was tested for its optimal functioning. However, the SST-TP02-M2 is compatible with all popular M.2 SSDs in 2280 format.
