Up to eight HDDs or SSDs can be managed with a SATA or SAS connector from the controller card, depending on the type of drive and the corresponding optional connection cable. Two mini SAS HD outputs (type SFF8643) On the board, to which corresponding, extra-purchase cable to be purchased, for example, from 1x Mini-SAS-HD to 4x SATA.
The Silverstone SST-ECS05 is equipped with the 1.2 GHz fast LSI SAS 3008 chip (also known as the LSI MegaRAID 9311-8i), which allows configuration of the storage media in RAID 0, 1, 1E or 10. Thanks to PCIe 3.0 connectivity with 8 lanes, a sufficient bandwidth of 64 Gbit / s is provided for the HDDs / SSDs. An additional alternative low-profile shield is included with the RAID controller.
Note: There are no cables included to connect drives to the two mini SAS HD outputs (SFF8643) on the controller card. These must be purchased separately, for example in the form of ZUSA-216 in the caseking range.
