Users with relatively small form factor computers often find themselves lacking sufficient space for additional hard drives or SSDs. Those who don’t want to buy an external enclosure to expand their storage capacity or set up a NAS server would typically need a larger case. However, this defeats the purpose of a space-saving computer.
The compact SilverStone DS380B is ideal for this purpose, thanks to its eight drive bays, which are hot-swappable due to special mounting brackets. These bays accommodate both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch drives. With a total volume of only 21 liters, the DS380 is perfect for anyone looking for a truly high-performance NAS enclosure. The case, which is only 28.5 cm tall, can house a Mini-ITX motherboard, three fans, and four additional permanently installed 2.5-inch drives. It even has room for two expansion cards.
The case is equipped with two 120mm fans that draw air in from the side. Another 120mm fan at the rear of the DS380B expels the air. Dust filters are installed on the two side fans and one on the top panel for the power supply.
A special circuit board on the back panel ensures the seamless connection of a total of twelve drives with SATA or SAS interfaces and guarantees optimal compatibility with hard drives and SSDs.
An LED indicator with adjustable brightness is located on the front panel. This is situated on a lockable front door made of brushed aluminum. Opening the front panel reveals two USB 3.0 ports and two audio jacks.
The case accommodates graphics cards up to 279 mm in length and is suitable for CPUs with TDP values ​​of up to 95 watts and a cooler with a maximum height of 57 mm.
