The NF-S12A case fan marks the third generation of Noctuas classic S12 series, which has received more than 250 awards and recommendations in the international trade press. Thanks to the further developed blade geometry with anti-stall knobs and the new AAO frame (short for Advanced Acoustic Optimization), the NF-S12A achieves up to 8% higher efficiency (flow rate/noise development) compared to its renowned predecessor.
The FLX version allows three speed settings (1200/900/700rpm) via the included low-noise adapter and thus offers full flexibility when fine-tuning between maximum performance and practically silent operation. The NF-S12As Anti-Stall Knobs reduce vortex shedding phenomena in medium to high drag situations, thereby expanding the so-called stall margin. This makes the NF-S12A even more versatile than its predecessor and enables better results on heatsinks and radiators.
Noctuas AAO (Advandced Acoustic Optimization) frames have integrated vibration buffers as well as a stepped inlet area (Stepped Inlet Design) and an inner microstructure (Inner Surface Microstructures), which enable even better performance/noise efficiency.
The graduated inlet area of the stepped inlet design creates more turbulence in the inlet. This facilitates the transition from laminar to turbulent flow, which adheres better to the frame (flow attachment) and thus increases the suction capacity of the fan, especially where the suction area is limited.
The microstructure on the inside of the frame (Inner Surface Microstructures) creates a boundary layer through which the tips of the fan blades move. This reduces power separation from the suction side of the blade tips, resulting in a significant reduction in torsional noise and an increase in pressure and airflow efficiency.
The NF-S12A FLX (Flexibility) offers 1200, 900 and 700rpm settings via the included low-noise and ultra-low-noise adapters, allowing fine-tuning for maximum flow rate or maximum smoothness.
The NF-S12A is equipped with the further optimized second generation of Noctuas proven SSO bearing system. With SSO2, the rear magnet sits closer to the fan axis for even better stabilization, resulting in further improved precision and durability.
