As a Disk on Module are called flash memory, like a conventional SSD are quite functional, but are plugged directly into an appropriate port, thus allowing an extremely compact design. In the case of DOM drives Mach Xtreme Technology, a commercially available SATA port is used. These drives are available in both the vertical design that looks similar to a USB stick, and in the horizontal design without housing with angled connector, which offers advantages particularly in very compact housings. In this case, it is the horizontal variant.

This Mach Xtreme SATA DOM throws all the benefits of a SSD in the balance – high speed, low power consumption, quietness and robustness due to lack of moving parts – and combines them in a unrivaled small appearance, what they particularly interesting for embedded systems and special solutions makes – this drive can be used anywhere where even a 2.5-inch SSD is still too large.

Despite its small size, the SATA DOM offers great performance: Equipped with SLC flash memory up to 85 MB / s read and 60MB / s write achieved – and with a power consumption of only 1.2 watts in operation and 0.3 watts idle. In two other key data, the original purpose in the industry can be seen: The operating temperature must between 0 and 70 degrees C and the durability is indicated with rich four million hours (MTBF). The power supply is ensured via an enclosed cable.
