With an SSD not only older systems can be quickly brought up to scratch. Hardly any other replaceable component in the PC brings such a noticeable performance gain as a flash memory drive that replaces a magnetic storage disk. The SSDs are not only faster, they are distinguished also by absolute silence, insensitivity to shock and an extremely low power consumption.
With the introduction of the 9-Intel chipsets, a new connection has become popular, the M.2 slot, which was formerly known as NGFF. When M.2 can – depending on the mainboard and SSD model – either PCI Express lanes or the SATA 6G interface to be used, the latter variant not fast during data transfer is as per classic SATA connector. The advantage lies in the lower dimensions of M.2 SATA SSD compared to a 2.5-inch model as well as in the fact that SATA ports are not blocked by the SSD and thus are more connections for hard drives available ,
The vast majority of X99-, Z97-, H97- and some AM3 + boards now have at least one M.2 port and so it is only logical, these to use them. Exactly for this purpose has MX-Technology different M.2 SSDs in the program, and there are versions with lengths of 60 and 80 mm (2260 and 2280). In the model offered here is a 80 mm long specimen that has 480 GB of storage. Connected via SATA 6G standard and equipped with MLC NAND, the compact drive is to the 2.5-inch counterparts in nothing.
The maximum sequential write speed is high 560 MB / s, while the 480-GB with SSD up to 410 MB / s data sequentially writes. The IOPS fall correspondingly high of up to 60,000 (4KB Random). Thanks TRIM support, large DDR3 cache and branded NAND cell durability for performance is given. Mach Xtreme indicates a life expectancy of 2.5 million hours. Of course, the M.2 SATA SSDs can also excellent use in compatible notebooks and other portable devices.
Note: The TRIM function is optimally supported by modern operating systems (Windows 8 or 7, for example.).
