As a central network storage, NAS servers are now increasingly important for companies as well as for private users. By outsourcing the data to the network, all the hard disks can be banned from the computer, thanks to SSDs for the operating system. At the same time, several users can access a common data storage, which does not necessarily require a separate computer. However, good NAS systems can still contain much more than just data on the LAN – they can, for example, independently process downloads, provide data via FTP on the Internet, or use PLEX or Kodi (formerly XBMC) as a media center.
The ASUSTOR AS3204T also offers these options – and much more. Under its black aluminum housing, which also features passive cooling in addition to its 70mm fan, there is a powerful Intel Celeron quad-core CPU with 1.6 GHz and 2 GB DDR3L memory as well as four hard disk slots. This hardware foundation allows RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 or 10 RAID modes to be streamed with resolutions up to 4K and to back up data using 256-bit encryption. The ASUSTOR AS3204T is equipped with three USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI 1.4 and a Gigabit LAN port.
