With PC-coolers, the test methods can also lead to distortions. So often an open test bench is used to reproduce the test conditions as closely as possible. As sensible as this measure appears at first glance, it is so problematic if one is remembered that an open test bench offers very different conditions than a sealed enclosure, where the cooler ultimately perform their duties. Position (standing vs.. Sidewise), air flow and the environment are significantly different and can affect the outcome.
