The ZOWIE crews therefore also take over the positive aspects such as shaping, surface material, ambidextomy and on-board storage of the settings for the FK1 + development offered here, as well as the size and the optical sensor. The fact that the FK1 + is a few millimeters longer, wider and higher, and therefore weighs a few grams more than the old FK Pro, ZOWIEs response to multiple customer requests and community feedback is where the original FK mouse as a trail Smallish.
The colors of the new revision of the FK series, including a wheel mouse, is limited to a matte black, which is loosened by the new manufacturers logo introduced in late 2014, now red. The surface material is again a kind of rubber which feels smooth and fine and offers a higher resistance to wear and tear than pure plastic. The coating is also optimized with the increased grip for gamers with the tendency to sweaty palms.
The sensor, an Avago ADNS-3310, is the admission to ZOWIEs claim to always deliver the maximum of technology and precision that is currently possible. Although the predecessor, the ADNS-3090, was already a very good sensor, the 3310 allows even more flexibility with a maximum of 3,200 DPI as well as three other, lower resolutions – and can record it at the highest DPI level with a number of laser mice. The outstanding lift-off-distance (LOD) of just 1.5 to 1.8 mm height also brings the FK1 + with it, because ZOWIE does not return.
The FK1 + can be used by both left and right hands. In contrast to many other manufacturers, ZOWIE uses the solution already found in the past to simply disable the unused thumb buttons. This prevents users from making mistakes via the second button pair on the other side of the mouse, which can happen particularly in the zealous fight and can have very annoying consequences. To do this, you must press the left or right main button together with the mouse wheel button when inserting into the USB port of the PC.
The USB signal rate (polling rate) can also be adjusted by pressing one of the two active thumb buttons during plugging, here 125, 500 and 1,000 Hz can be selected. Because of this solution no driver installation is necessary, all important settings are made directly at the mouse and also saved by it. This also applies to the DPI resolution of the sensor, which is altered by means of a narrow button and an LED display on the underside.
