The Polaris-10 Pro graphics chip Radeon RX 470 has 32 Compute Units with 2,048 shader units. The GPU of the Radeon RX 470 Nitro + 4G clocked at an average boost clock of 1,260 MHz. The 4 GB of video memory type GDDR5 clocked at 3,500 MHz (7,000 MHz) and are connected with a 256-bit memory interface to the GPU (graphics chip).

For the cooling of the graphics card, a large, semi-passive dual-fan cooler is used. For the power of the Sapphire Radeon RX 470 Nitro + 4G, an additional 8-pin PCIe power connector is required by the power supply.
14-nm FinFET and GCN 1.3: The AMD Radeon RX 470

The new 14-nm FinFET manufacturing process and large jumps in the control, low-power and clock speeds technologies make the Radeon RX 470 with a TDP of 120 watts very energy efficient, especially when compared with the previous models like the Radeon R9 390 (250 Watt TDP) compares. The 14-nm technology allows to accommodate more transistors on a smaller area, while at the same time decreases the energy requirement.

The Graphics Core Next architecture (GCN 1.3) fourth generation introduces features such as a command processor, a geometry processor, new multimedia cores, an optimized display engine and an improved memory controller. Other supported technologies include Async Compute, volcano, DirectX 12 and AMDs freesync technology.

Monitors can be connected via DisplayPort or HDMI to the graphics card. By Eyefinity technology up to four monitors can be connected in a multi-display setup. The HDMI connection in standard 2.0b transmits 4K / UHD resolution at 60 hertz and has HDCP 2.2 to send and receive encrypted signals.

In order to exploit the full potential of the card in the future, new drivers should be downloaded and installed from AMD or Sapphire periodically.
