AMD introduces the R7 and R9 two new graphics cards series , replacing the Radeon HD series . The different models are doing all players – from casual gamers to hardcore enthusiasts – satisfy.

With the R9 Gigabyte 290X with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory, the flagship of the R9 series appears. The card with GCN architecture holds in terms of performance on every level of previous Radeon cards , beating the HD 7970th The graphics card comes in 2- slot format and has a large Wind Force 3X heatsink , sitting on the three large fans .

The GPU , in this case, the powerful Hawaii XT , clocked at the Gigabyte Radeon 290X R9 Wind Force 3X with up to 1040 MHz maximum boost and the memory with 2,500 ( effective 5000 ) MHz. The RAM is strong four gigabytes in size , and connected via a 512 – bit interface .

Furthermore, an additional BIOS is present, so that inventors can experiment with additional risk overclocking options or a fan controller . If a BIOS times be accidentally flashed wrong, you can still switch to the other BIOS.

The bandwidth in communication between the graphics card and motherboard or CPU falls from high , because the Gigabyte R9 290X brings the latest interface standard PCI Express 3.0 with it , thus – with suitable residual hardware – the bandwidth over PCIe 2.0 to 16GB / s doubled.

The Gigabyte Radeon R9 290X Wind Force 3X invests in the latest standard DirectX 11.2 and controls monitors via two DVI and one HDMI port and one DisplayPort, whereby a plurality of corresponding displays also can accept the ( 3D ) representation thanks to Eyefinity and CrossFireX . The power supply is via a 6 -pin and one 8-pin PCIe connector . For the operation , the manufacturer recommends a power supply with at least 600 watts of power.

In order to exploit the full potential of the card in the future , new drivers should be downloaded and installed from AMD (formerly ATI) or gigabytes at regular intervals.
