However, the experts at Streacom have come up with something very special for its SFO (Small Form Factor) package DA2. Instead of trays and brackets, slidable braces are used, to which the hardware is fastened and whose position can be adapted to the respective hardware. Modders and tinkerers therefore have a great deal of free hand in designing the interior of the Streacom DA2. Even a 240 mm radiator can be accommodated in the housing unit.
Overview of the Streacom DA2 Mini-ITX housing:
- Extremely compact dimensions (18 x 28.6 x 34 cm) with a volume of 17.5 liters
- Outer shell made of high-quality anodised aluminum with smoothed surface
- Unique bracket concept for largely modular installation
- Supports dual-slot gaming graphics cards up to 33 cm in length
- Graphics card installation without riser module possible
- Takes motherboards in Mini-ITX format (all sockets from AMD & Intel)
- Space for powerful ATX or SFX power supplies
- 6x 2.5-inch disks or 3x 3.5-inch disks possible
Perfect use of space & consistently thought-out concept
With extremely compact dimensions of only 180 x 286 x 340 millimeters (W x H x D) of the chassis, the Streacom DA2 brings it to just 17.5 liters volume. The fact that a complete gaming PC can be installed in spite of this size format, is achieved by an innovative concept: rails are mounted on each side of the top and bottom. There brackets can be threaded in the form of narrow struts that can be used both vertically and horizontally. At which then the respective hardware is fixed. Thus, the maximum freedom in the positioning of motherboard, graphics card and even a 280 -mm radiator is given. In addition, the back can be rotated 180 degrees to allow even more extraordinary layouts.
The only exception is the bracket for the power supply, which actually consists of two larger frames. On the one can attach a PSU with the form factor ATX or in the smaller version SFX, and then in turn to be attached to the front of the Streacom DA2. The ATX format limits the possible length of a graphics card to 220 millimeters, otherwise VGAs may be 330 millimeters long. It then screws the second frame, which serves as a mount for three 3.5 "or even six 2.5" drives. The power cord is then routed from the front to the back.
As big as a game console, but massively more powerful
Externally, the innovative Winzling impresses with its ascetic design along with a flawless processing of anodized aluminum in titanium gray. The 2-millimeter thick metal and the chic hairline finish reveal a distinctive look. Accordingly, on the simple front side of the DA2 next to the power button there is only a USB 3.0 port of type C with an internal mainboard connection with 19 pins.
The clever cooling concept, which thanks to the flexible bracket concept can also be set up largely at will, is similarly spartan. Fans may therefore be between 40 and 180 millimeters in size and can be placed laterally, up or down as needed. Removable dust filters are on the top and bottom and behind a side panel. So that all components can breathe fresh air at any time, or their waste heat can be removed without any problem, the two side parts of the Streacom DA2 have been provided with round air holes over a large area. Incidentally, the side parts can be unhooked and hooked in without tools.
Supports full-fledged high-end graphics cards
Also, the motherboard in mini-ITX format is attached to the sliding brackets and can be placed relatively freely. The graphics card is plugged directly into a PCIe slot of the mainboard, the use of a riser cable is not necessary. For a CPU cooler remain 145 millimeters, for a SFF package that's pretty much. Alternatively, a maximum of 280 mm radiator fits on one side, which can be connected to a custom loop. The bracket braces can also be used to attach a pump with expansion tank.
With the DA2, Streacom goes its own way and expands the concept of an SFF enclosure with extensive modularity. The form factor for the spacious interior allows the installation of heavy hardware and even a radiator. The Streamcon DA2 is the perfect case for modders and hobbyists.
