Scythe Mugen 5 Black Edition - 120mm [SCMG-5100BE]

It fits perfectly into various builds, especially those that do without RGB lighting in favor of a subtle look. Compared to the previous model, the 120 mm fan has also been redesigned and wrapped completely in black and the fan speed has been increased to 1500 rpm. As a result, it not only fits more harmoniously into the new look, but also offers even better performance in the upper area.

The Scythe Mugen 5 has an asymmetrically arranged heat sink and, thanks to the six inclined heat pipes, does not sit directly above the base plate. This enables easy access to the memory banks. Therefore, this tower cooler is particularly suitable for sprawling memory modules with large heat sinks. The contact points of the six copper heat pipes are well distributed on the aluminum heat sink and, with twelve risers, ensure a high heat transport capacity.

On the top of the tower cooler there is a matt black cover plate with the manufacturer's logo applied for a stylish color accent. The slats are also made of black anodized aluminum and the copper base plate is nickel-plated. The scope of delivery includes a high-performance 120 mm fan in matt black. If necessary, an additional fan can be attached to increase the cooling performance. The brackets required for this are included with the Mugen 5 Black Edition, the corresponding fan is available separately.

The enclosed fan is a PWM model from the Kaze-Flex series by Scythe with a very wide control range from 300 to 1,500 rpm. This means that the Mugen 5 Black Edition is equipped for every application, from ultra-silent to overclocking. After all, it generates a barely perceptible 4 dB (A) at minimum speed and, in return, transports around 112.93 m³ of air per hour at maximum fan speed.

The speed can be dynamically controlled via the 4-pin PWM connection (12 V) and thus adjusted to the required cooling capacity. With the vibration absorbers in the corners of the frame and the closed liquid bearing, extremely smooth running and a solid mean time to failure (MTTF) of 120,000 hours at 25 degrees Celsius is achieved.

The extensive assembly kit offers a very high level of compatibility for AMD and Intel processors. In addition, with its stable screw connection, it guarantees a secure fit of the cooler, even during transport. Thermal paste, a suitable screwdriver and installation instructions are also included so that the cooler can be installed immediately.

Note: For mounting on mainboards with an AMD socket, the original backplate of the mainboard, screwed on at the factory, is required. Please check whether this is available before purchasing. If the backplate is instead attached with plastic pins, this cooler cannot be installed.
