Details

For gamers Radeon RX Vega graphics cards are especially interesting in combination with a FreeSync monitor, as such a team conjures smooth images without tearing effects on the screen! As with the reference design, Sapphire relies on High Bandwith Memory (HBM), the second generation of revolutionary high-speed memory.

The 8 GB HBM2 memory, clock with 945 MHz and are connected via a 2048-bit memory interface to the graphics chip (GPU). One of the peculiarities of HBM memory is the placement directly in the GPU die (ie in the graphics chip) and not soldered as usual on the board. The graphics chip itself clocks at the Sapphire Nitro + Radeon RX Vega 64 at 1,423 MHz and can clock up to 1,611 MHz when needed in boost mode. Thanks to the 14-phase power supply with three 8-pin power connectors, the OC potential of the Sapphire Nitro + Radeon RX Vega 64 is particularly high. The graphics card has two different UEFI bios configurations that can be set to Silent and Standard. This changes the clock speeds of the GPU and, depending on this, the speeds of the fans, which also switch off completely when there is little load.

The better the graphics chip is cooled, the longer it can sustain the boost cycle. For the cooling of the graphics card, therefore, a semi-passive cooler design is used, which consists of several heat pipes, two large cooling blocks made of aluminum fins and three large fans. The fans rotate for a particularly effective cooling in different directions and can be changed without tools by the Quick Connect system in case of defect. The backplate provides increased PCB stability and configurable RGB LED lighting gives the card a stylish look.
The features of the Sapphire Nitro + Radeon RX Vega 64:

Semi-passive radiator design with 3 fans
8 GB high bandwidth memory (HBM2)
64 Next-Gen Compute Units (NCUs, 4,096 shaders)
BIOS Switch with Silent, Standard and OC-BIOS
Base clock: 1,423
Boost clock: 1,611 MHz
High Bandwidth Cache Controller (HBCC)
Rapid Packed Math (RPM) of the NCUs
New Programmable Geometry Pipeline
Enhanced Pixel Engine
The architecture of the AMD Radeon Vega graphics cards
The Vega architecture not only includes many optimizations over the Graphics Core Next architecture (GCN) of past GPU generations, but also introduces completely new components. Thus, the Vega GPU architecture is based primarily on four new pillars:

High Bandwidth Cache Controller (HBCC)
Rapid Packed Math (RPM) of Next-Gen Compute Units (NCU)
New Programmable Geometry Pipeline
Enhanced Pixel Engine
High Bandwidth Cache Controller (HBCC)
AMD's High Bandwidth Cache Controller (HBCC) The High Bandwidth Cache Controller (HBCC) allows much more efficient use of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) compared to Fiji GPUs, which are the first to use this particular type of memory , The HBC controller provides very efficient memory control, increasing the minimum frames per second (FPS) in many games by up to 100 percent and maximum FPS by more than 50 percent. This practically equals a doubling of the 8 GB HBM2 VRAM of the Radeon RX Vega to 16 GB!
Next-Gen Compute Unit (NCU) & Rapid Packed Math (RPM)
Rapid Packed Math (RPM) of the Next-Gen Compute Units (RPM) is a feature of the Next-Gen Compute Unit (NCU) and utilizes the very flexible core structure of the new compute units. For example, RPM speeds up FP16 calculations, which makes it faster to calculate math-based processes. With RPM enabled, the number of calculations performed per second is doubled, but without consuming more resources. In particular, physics calculations, such as those used in large explosions in some games, benefit from Rapid Packed Math.
New Programmable Geometry Pipeline
AMD Vega's New Programmable Geometry Pipeline The Vega's new programmable geometry pipeline handles millions of polygons through its efficient load balancing. The AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition Air offers a maximum geometry calculation of 11 polygons (using 4 geometry units) per measure, more than twice as much as the Radeon R9 Fury X with 4 polygons per measure at 4 geometry units. Especially modeling applications benefit from this and can render large 3D models in near real-time.
