The MSI MAG B460 Tomahawk ATX motherboard has two PCIe-x16 slots. One of these is connected to the chipset with a full 16 lanes, the other has four lanes. The board has two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots for plug-in and expansion cards.

The two M.2 slots connected via four PCIe 3.0 lanes support the NVMe protocol and, in combination with corresponding M.2 SSDs, enable a data transfer rate of just under 4 GB / s. This is about eight times faster than an SSD connected via SATA 6G! Additional drives such as SSDs, HDDs and optical drives can be connected via six SATA 3.0 ports. A maximum of 128 GB of RAM with a clock rate of up to 2,933 MHz can be accommodated in four DDR4 DIMM slots.

The MSI MAG B460 Tomahawk provides a USB 3.2 port of type C with 20 Gbps on the I / O panel. Additional peripheral devices can be connected via four USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 sockets.
