The Gigabyte Z590 Gaming X in detail
The Gigabyte Z590 Gaming X is an Intel Z590 motherboard in the ATX form factor and provides a total of two PCIe x16 slots for expansion cards. One slot with a total of 16 lanes is connected directly to the CPU. It supports PCIe 4.0. The other supports PCIe 3.0 and is connected with 4 lanes. There are also two PCIe x1 slots, which are also connected via PCIe 3.0.

random access memory
The four DIMM slots support up to 128 GB DDR4 memory in dual-channel mode. The Z590 chipset supports clock rates of up to 3,200 MHz natively. Using OC, the Gigabyte Z590 Gaming X also enables RAM kits to be operated up to 4,800 MHz.

Drives
The Gigabyte Z590 Gaming X offers three M.2 slots for SSDs. One of them is connected directly to the CPU with 4 lanes and supports PCIe 4.0. However, this only works when using a Rocket Lake CPU. Two further M.2 slots are connected to the chipset and also work with Intel CPUs of the 10th generation, but then via PCIe 3.0. Six SATA 6G connections are available for additional SSDs, hard disks and optical drives.

Attention! The top M.2 slot (M.2_1) only works in combination with Intel Core CPUs of the 11th generation "Rocket Lake" and is deactivated with processors of the 10th generation "Comet Lake".

USB, network and sound
On the I / O panel, the Gigabyte Z590 Gaming X has a USB 3.1 type C port with a maximum speed of 10 Gbit / s. It also offers another USB 3.1 port (type A) and five USB 3.0 ports with 5 Gbit / s. There are also two additional USB 2.0 ports. The Gigabyte Z590 Gaming X is also equipped with a LAN with 2.5 GBit / s (Intel 2.5GbE) for fast data transfers. The integrated sound chip from Realtek ensures rich sound.
