The Gigabyte Z490M Gaming X motherboard in the mATX form factor offers two PCIe-x16 slots and one PCIe-x1 slot for plug-in and expansion cards. The x16 slots are each connected with a full 16 lanes. As a high-end motherboard, the Gigabyte Z490M Gaming X also supports multi-GPU setups via AMD Crossfire / XDMA. The other features of the mainboard also include a striking cooler design.

Up to 64 GB DDR4 RAM in dual-channel mode can be used in the four DIMM slots. The Z490 chipset supports clock speeds of up to 2,933 MHz, but the Gigabyte Z490M Gaming X enables the operation of RAM kits with up to 4,400 MHz using OC! An M.2 slot for PCIe / SATA M.2 SSDs and six SATA 6G connectors enable storage drives to be connected.
