The AMD B450 chipset is the heart of the Gigabyte B450M S2H motherboard and has been specially optimized for AMD Ryzen CPUs. B450 motherboards support up to 64 GB of RAM with a guaranteed clock speed of 2,667 megahertz. With overclocking, depending on the motherboard, much higher clock rates are possible and the B450 chipset also enables the processor to be overclocked.

The Gigabyte B450M S2H Micro-ATX motherboard has a PCI Express 3.0 slot with a full x16 connection for graphics cards. The motherboard provides two PCIe 2.0 x1 slots for additional expansion cards. The two RAM banks support up to 32 GB DDR4 RAM with a clock rate of up to 2,933 megahertz and can even handle clock rates up to 3,600 MHz via OC.

An M.2 slot with either PCIe or SATA 6G connection is provided by the AM4 mainboard. M.2 SSDs with the advanced NVM Express protocol (NVMe) and a connection via four PCI Express 3.0 lanes are up to eight times faster than SATA 6G hard drives and support data transfer rates of up to 32 Gbit / s. When using an Athlon or A-series CPU / APU, the M.2 slot can only be controlled with SATA SSDs. The slot accepts M.2 cards up to 80 mm (2280).

The Gigabyte B450M S2H provides four USB 3.0 type A sockets on the I / O panel. There are also two USB 2.0 ports there. For CPUs with an integrated graphics unit such as AMD's Picasso or Raven Ridge, a DVI-D and a VGA connection are available in addition to an HDMI.
