Fast Wi-Fi anywhere with the ASUS Lyra Mini AC1300 mesh network
With three high-quality internal antennas, the ASUS Lyra Mini AC1300 Mesh WLAN achieves data transfer rates of 867 Mbps in the 5 GHz frequency range and WLAN speeds of up to 400 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz frequency range. Devices capable of handling AC1300 achieve a combined connection speed of up to 1,267 Mbps thanks to Lyra Mini.
Using MU-MIMO technology (multi-user), compatible devices can also be operated with their own dedicated, maximum WLAN speed. Connecting several devices at the same time will not slow down the network. In conventional SU-MIMO (single-user) technology, connected devices may be waiting in succession for the transmissions, which may cause delays.
The installation and setup of the mesh network are done quickly and easily thanks to the clear ASUS Lyra app. In just three steps, the user can use a smartphone, tablet or PC to expand the mesh WiFi in just a few minutes. The ASUS Lyra app manages traffic, diagnoses connection problems, or performs firmware updates-all without turning on a PC. In addition, AiProtection takes care of the security of connected devices by blocking typical attacks from the Internet.
Mesh networks and mesh Wi-Fi
Depending on the frequency band used, the range of normal WLAN routers or access points is usually limited to a relatively small area and can easily be disturbed by metallic objects and walls, water and moisture, and electrical appliances such as microwaves. Therefore, in larger apartments and multi-storey buildings, it is rarely possible to cover the entire living space with a single wireless router.
Although a WLAN repeater increases the range of the signal, it sometimes leads to massive losses at the maximum possible data transfer rate. Depending on the mode of operation, no WLAN roaming is provided, so that it can lead to disconnections when going around in the apartment when the WLAN device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) has to reconnect.
With a mesh network, it is possible to achieve a very good wireless coverage with low loss of speed in the home or apartment. In addition, a mesh WLAN allows roaming between the individual base stations, so that it does not lead to disconnections while surfing or streaming, if you walk through your own four walls. The mobile device recognizes which node of the mesh WLAN provides the optimal connection to the wireless home network.
