Thanks to brushed aluminum and the two tempered glass side panels, this extremely compact gaming case not only looks particularly elegant, but is also very easy to transport due to its low weight. High-quality hardware can be installed behind its chic exterior, because there is enough space.
The Raijintek Ophion Mini-ITX case at a glance:
- Extremely compact dimensions (17.4 x 24.5 x 37.5 cm) with a volume of 16.9 liters
- Outer shell made of high quality aluminum with a brushed surface
- Two side parts made of 3 millimeter thick tempered glass
- Perfect structure for efficient air cooling
- Supports dual-slot gaming graphics cards up to 33 cm in length
- Includes riser module with full PCI Express 3.0 x16 speed
- Accepts mini-ITX format motherboards (all AMD & Intel sockets)
- Space for powerful ATX power supplies & three 2.5-inch data carriers
- Perfect use of space thanks to a consistently well thought-out concept
With extremely compact dimensions of only 174 by 245 by 375 millimeters (W x H x D), the Ophion from Raijintek looks delicate, but inside you can install a lot of powerful hardware. The fact that a complete gaming PC can be built into it despite this size format is achieved through a well thought-out concept and a trick: the graphics card is housed in a separate chamber behind the Mini-ITX mainboard, and almost every square centimeter is inside the steel inside Raijintek Ophion is used sensibly, while there is usually an unnecessary amount of free space in ordinary tower housings. A gaming PC can hardly be built any smaller!
As big as a game console, but massively more powerful
On the outside, the innovative tiny impresses with its ascetic design and the flawless processing of the anodized aluminum in white. The metal with a thickness of 2 millimeters and the chic hairline finish reveal an unmistakable look. The stable metal is complemented by the two side parts made of 3 mm thick tempered glass, which not only give the Raijintek Ophion an unusual appearance, but also allow an unobstructed view of the interior and the hardware built into it.
On the plain front of the Ophion, in addition to the power button with the Raijintek logo, there are only two unaccompanied USB ports with an internal mainboard connection. In addition to the USB 3.0 port of type A, Raijintek also has a modern USB 3.0 port of type C.
The clever cooling concept is similarly spartan. The airflow takes place from bottom to top. On the floor, an optional 120 mm fan provides fresh air, which is conveyed to the outside by two further optional 120 mm fans. The resulting draft cools both the main chamber with mainboard and processor and the rear chamber in which the graphics card is housed. The rear and lid made of solid aluminum are provided with generous ventilation holes, while the tempered glass side parts are attached to the housing by means of knurled screws, thus also contributing to the supply of cool air.
Supports full high-end graphics cards thanks to the riser module
On the inside, a motherboard in mini ITX format can be accommodated on the right side, on which a CPU with a processor cooler with a maximum height of 90 millimeters can be kept at temperature. Flat top blower coolers are completely sufficient for cooling due to the ever lower TDP of modern processors. The PCI Express x16 slot on the mainboard is redirected to the left side of the housing via a riser adapter, in which gaming pixel accelerators up to 330 millimeters long and 55 millimeters high can be installed and is connected with full 16 lanes via PCI Express.
The power supply of the mini-gaming system is ensured by a power supply in the conventional ATX standard with a depth of up to 160 millimeters, which is attached in front of the mainboard. The cable harness then protrudes upwards into the housing. An extension for the power cord leads to the corresponding plug on the back of the housing. Of course, the more compact SFX or SFS power supplies can also be used instead.
There is space for a 2.5-inch data carrier directly behind the front cover. If one of the two 120 mm fans is omitted on the cover, two additional 2.5 inch drives fit there, which can alternatively be replaced by a 3.5 inch drive. Magnetic dust filters are attached to the lid and bottom.
