The function of the PWM fan hub is as unique as it is ingenious: It allows up to eight 3-pin fans, such as PWM fans, to be controlled out-of-the-box. To do this, connect the supplied 4-pin PWM cable to a 4-pin fan header on the motherboard and connect the SATA power cable to the power adapter. Now you can connect up to three 3-pin and five 4-pin fans directly to the hub.
The PHANTEKS Universal Fan Controller Fan Hub Overview:
- PHANTEKS hub for five 4-pin and three 3-pin fans
- Controllable via the motherboard or a wired remote control
- Power supply via SATA cable
- Cable and mounting material included
- Control via mainboard or remote control
Only the speed signal of the first fan (FAN 1, white connection) is read out and passed on to the mainboard, the RPM values of the other fans can not be displayed. When using the hub, check that all fans are running and turning fast enough. They are all now voltage controlled together, as if they were PWM fans on a corresponding PWM connection!
Alternatively, the rotational speed of the fans can be controlled by wired remote control. There are three speed levels available. Connected to the remote control on the input connector, as a replacement for the cable, which otherwise connects the hub to the motherboard.
Easily expandable and mounted
If the option of eight fans is still not enough, you can extend the number of connections with additional optional fans using optional Y cables. PHANTEKS also has the adapter cables individually in the program. Only FAN connection 1 must not be split due to the speed reading. The PWM fan hub is an extremely interesting extension for all enclosures in which many fans are automatically controlled.
In order to do this neatly, the scope of delivery includes two self-adhesive velcro surfaces, which are glued to the back of the hub or housing, in order to connect both with Velcro. This allows the PWM hub to be flexibly fixed and can even be removed quickly.
Note: If the 4-pin PWM cable of the hub is not powered by a motherboard PWM connector, but by a 4-pin or 3-pin port that is voltage regulated, the additional SATA power connector can not be used or rotate then all fans at full speed.
