Overview

The ASRock 970M Pro3 supports AMD's CrossFire mode for up to two graphics cards, providing two second-generation PCIe-x16 slots, one of which has a full 16 lanes, while the other has four lanes. In addition, a PCIe 2.0-x1 and a classic PCI slot provide additional connectivity for expansion cards. The ASRock 970M Pro3 for gamers is a low-cost alternative to boards with AMD 990X or 990FX chips, thanks to the high-quality AMD 970 chipset and its good features.

AMD AM3 + platform with USB 3.0 & IR header
Up to 64 GB of DDR3 RAM are accommodated by the four RAM banks, with corresponding memory running at a maximum of 2,400 overclocked megahertz. Data carriers such as SSDs and hard disks manage the mainboard via six SATA 6G connectors (including RAID support). The other connector repertoire includes six USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports, three 3.5mm audio connectors for 7.1 sound, two PS / 2 connectors for legacy audio, Input devices (keyboard & mouse) and once Gigabit LAN.

These are internally supplemented by an IR header for infrared receivers (eg for remote controls), two USB 2.0 and a USB 3.0 header. Two ports are supported by each of the USB headers (= up to 4x USB 2.0) And 2x USB 3.0 for I / O panel or cardreader). Lastly, three fans can be connected to the board, two of them via 4-pin PWM and one with 3-pin connector for the CPU cooler.
