The Western Digital Blue SN550 NVMe SSD is a particularly small M.2 SSD. It is installed in the M.2 slot of the same name and addressed via the NVMe interface and connected via four PCI Express lanes. The 2 TB Western Digital Blue SN550 NVMe SSD achieves extremely high read and write rates of 2,600 and 1,800 MB / s respectively. This is also thanks to the 3D NAND TLC flash with 64 layers and the in-house controller from Western Digital.

The excellent performance impresses all the more in view of the small ultrabook or tablet-compatible size of the drive, after all, the Western Digital Blue SN550 NVMe SSD is just under 8 cm long and 2.2 cm wide. For use, however, a free M.2 NVMe port must be available in the device. Via the WD SSD Dashboard software interface, the user can activate the gaming mode.

Then the performance is optimized by completely disabling the energy saving function of the SSD. The software can be obtained free of charge from the manufacturer's website.
