The quality of a server motherboard in a gaming motherboard makes Supermicro possible with the C7Z370-CG. Its modern Z370 chipset is intended for Intel's core processors of the 8000 series. With the selected components and a corresponding processor, the system in the BIOS can be incrementally incremented by 100 MHz to up to 5.5 GHz! Because the voltage transformers themselves are designed for up to 250 A, they remain relatively cool even at high clock rates. The manual for the mainboard is extremely detailed and describes in detail the many possibilities of intervention.

As befits a manufacturer of server motherboards, Supermicro has kept the C7Z370-CG extremely simple. There are no LEDs and no RGB LED headers. The color of the board is black and disappears discreetly in the background, not to steal the chic water cooling or the powerful graphics card the show. With two PCIe 3.0-16x slots and one PCIe 3.0 x4 port, the motherboard supports both NVIDIA SLI and AMD's CrossFireX technology, allowing for multiple graphics cards. For plug-in and expansion cards, the board also has three PCIe x1 slots.

Equipped with a total of four DIMM slots for DDR4 memory in fast dual-channel mode, up to 64 GB of RAM can be installed in the four memory banks. The Coffee Lake processors support a memory clock of 2,666 MHz, whereby overclocking can also be used with memory modules up to 4,133 MHz.

The board provides two M.2 slots for ultra-fast NVMe M.2 SSDs and six SATA 6G ports for 3.5 "or 2.5" hard drives and SSDs to connect disks (including RAID support). The M.2 ports are connected to the chipset via four PCIe lanes in the 3.0 standard and, in combination with the NVMe protocol, enable a data transfer rate of almost 4 GB / s. This makes M.2 PCIe SSDs up to eight times faster than SATA 6G SSDs! The M.2 slots fit M-Key 22110 format media.

At the I / O panel, the motherboard has a new Type-C USB 3.1 port, which is very thin and can finally be plugged in on both sides. In addition to the Type-C port, the motherboard also provides a backwards-compatible USB 3.1 Type A port. USB 3.1 ports are twice as fast as conventional USB 3.0 ports with maximum speeds of 10 Gbps! For input devices and other gaming peripherals, the I / O panel also has four more USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports. The connection to the Internet is via an Intel I219-V Gigabit LAN port with Anti-Surge LAN Guard. The excellent sound comes from the ALC 1220 High Definition Audio Codec.

The board has a total of five 4-pin fan connectors, three of which also work with 3-pin fans. There is also an LED display for POST codes on the motherboard as well as a header for reading out the motherboard temperature - an ideal motherboard for overclockers!
