Scythe Mugen 5 Black RGB - 120mm [SCMG-5100BK]

The Scythe-Mugen series has established itself as an inexpensive high-performance CPU cooler. The Scythe Mugen 5 Black RGB Edition CPU cooler comes with a black cover and a fan with static RGB LED lighting, which is compatible with the RGB interfaces of leading motherboard manufacturers.

In contrast to its predecessor, the Mugen 5 has a slightly changed design. Thanks to the six inclined heat pipes, the asymmetrically arranged heat sink does not sit directly above the base plate and thus allows unrestricted access to the memory banks, which can also accommodate protruding memory bars with large heat sinks. The contact points of the six heat pipes were sensibly distributed on the large aluminum heat sink and, with a total of twelve risers, ensure a high heat transfer capacity.

On the top of the tower cooler is a cover plate made of black anodized aluminum with the manufacturer's logo. The other design details correspond to the usual Scythe cooler range: the fins are therefore made of aluminum, while the base is made of copper and protected with a nickel layer. A 120 mm fan is included in the scope of delivery. If necessary, another can be installed. The brackets required for this are included in the scope of delivery.

The enclosed fan is a PWM model from the Kaze Flex series from Scythe with a very wide control range from 300 to 1,200 rpm. This means that the Mugen 5 Black RGB Edition, from ultra-silent to overclocking, is equipped for every application. After all, it generates just 4 dB (A) at minimum speed and, in return, transports almost 86.93 m³ / h at maximum speed. In addition, the fan is equipped with RGB LED lighting, which is connected to the mainboard via a 4-pin RGB connection (12 V) and via ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync, ASRock Polychrome Sync or Gigabyte RGB Fusion can be controlled.

The mounting kit offers very high compatibility for AMD and Intel processors. In addition, with its sturdy screw connection, it guarantees a secure fit of the cooler even during transport. Thermal paste and installation instructions are also included.
Note: Please note that a screwed original backplate of the mainboard is required for mounting on mainboards with an AMD socket. Please check whether it is available before buying. If the backplate is instead attached using plastic pins, this cooler cannot be installed.
