Polaris 30 is the second refresh of the Polaris GPU architecture and is now being manufactured in a 12 nm FinFET process. As is usual with a reduction in the structure width, this means a mixture of higher clock rates and increased efficiency compared to the 14 nm predecessor series. In addition, the powerful mid-range graphics cards of the Radeon-RX 590 series benefit from faster memory with a memory clock of now 8,400 MHz.

The 26 cm long Sapphire Nitro + Radeon RX RX 590 8G G5 is cooled by a cooler with two fans. This cooler design effectively keeps the graphics chip cool, allowing a boost clock of 1,560 MHz over a longer period of time. The 8 GB video memory is connected to the graphics processor via a 256-bit memory interface and the GDDR5-VRAM clocks at 4,200 MHz (effectively 8,400 MHz). The design of the Sapphire Nitro + Radeon RX RX 590 8G G5 is stylishly rounded off by a backplate and RGB LED lighting.
