Phanteks Enthoo Mini XL: Mini tower with spacious interior
Externally, the Phanteks Enthoo Mini XL mini-tower seems small, but inside is plenty of space, for example, for motherboards in Micro-ATX format and an ATX power supply. By omitting an HDD cage graphics cards can be up to 420 millimeters long, otherwise there is room for 289 millimeters. Even cable management still has 30 millimeters of space, not to mention comprehensive support for water cooling. Phanteks appropriately calls the format Super-Micro-ATX.

The insert for the power supply at the upper part of the housing is insulated towards the housing wall to prevent excessive heating of the side part. Above and behind it, fans can install fans up to 140 mm in size, and Phanteks supplies them at the rear. There's even another 140mm fan on the back, or you can replace it with two 120mm fans. You can attach either three 120mm or two 140mm fans to the top.

Lots of space for drives
Also on the front Phanteks has already pre-installed two 140 -mm fans, which of course can be replaced by two smaller variants. On the floor there are mounting positions for three further 120 mm or 140 mm fans. In order to cool the numerous drives in the HDD cages there are two additional slots for 120 mm fans on both sides. For a centralized fan control, Phanteks has added a PWM hub with six 3-pin slots, which in turn can be connected to the motherboard via a 4-pin connector. The power supply is independent of the motherboard via a SATA connector. Of course, the fans can be replaced by appropriate radiators, but under certain circumstances with the abandonment of drive cages. The radiator above may be at most 206 millimeters deep, otherwise it may hit the mainboard.

At the top of the front there is a drive cage for up to three 5.25-inch optical drives. In the two HDD cages underneath can be installed a total of six 3.5-inch HDDs or optionally 2.5-inch drives. In addition, two additional 2.5-inch drives attach to the front of the support for the HDD cages. There is room for another two SSDs at the back of the mainboard tray. If you do not use the lower optical drive, you can install a 3.5-inch drive in the ODD cage. Another can be attached to the back outside of the ODD cage.

Conversion to a two-board system
Both the HDD cages and the ODD cage can be removed. Then fits a graphics card with a length of 420 mm in the Enthoo Mini XL, with the cages are still 289 mm. There is also plenty of room for a CPU cooler at 215 millimeters. Filters on the bottom of the front and bottom provide a clean interior that can be seen through the two windows in the left-hand side panel.

The Enthoo Mini XL ITX Upgrade Kit allows the chassis to be upgraded to fit two mini-ITX motherboards. For this, the entire back is replaced by a new, which also spreads two PCI slots for another graphics card. The kit also includes an additional motherboard tray and another 5.25-inch I / O panel. At the bottom of the new back there is a slot for a second power supply in SFX format. If you just want to stick to a powerful ATX power supply instead, you can supply both mainboards via the Phanteks Power Splitter.
