The MSI MPG B550I Gaming Edge WiFi is a mini-ITX mainboard and has a PCI Express 4.0 slot with a full x16 connection for the graphics card. The two RAM banks support up to 64 GB DDR4 RAM with a clock rate of up to 3200 megahertz and can even handle clock rates up to 4600 MHz via OC.

Two M.2 slots are provided by the AM4 mainboard. One of the M.2 slots is connected to four PCI Express 4.0 lanes. It accepts plug-in cards up to 80 mm (2280) and supports the SATA protocol. M.2 SSDs with the advanced NVM Express protocol (NVMe) and a connection via four PCI Express 4.0 lanes support data transfer rates of up to 8 GByte / s and are twice as fast as via PCI Express 3.0.

The USB Type-C port can be plugged in on both sides, is particularly thin, and USB ports with this standard generally support the quick-charge function of smartphones and tablets. USB 3.1 reaches maximum speeds of 10 Gbit / s per port. An HDMI connection is available for CPUs with an integrated graphics unit such as AMD's Picasso APUs.
