B450 motherboards support all the features of the second-generation Ryzen processors, such as the new overclocking feature XFR2. In addition, the motherboards support up to 64 GB of RAM with a guaranteed clock speed of 2,933 megahertz. By means of overclocking, much higher clock rates are possible, depending on the motherboard, and the B450 chipset also enables overclocking of the processor.

The MAX Series motherboards are equipped with twice the BIOS memory of their predecessors, while providing optimizations for the AMD Ryzen 3000 processor series. These optimizations include, among other things, higher memory clock rates.

Note: Despite the optimizations, there is still no compatibility with PCIe 4.0. PCIe 4.0 is currently only supported by mainboards with X570 chipset.

The MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max is an ATX motherboard and features a PCI Express 3.0 slot with full x16 connectivity for graphics cards as well as an x4 PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot. For additional expansion cards, the motherboard provides four PCIe x1 slots. The four RAM banks support up to 64 GB of DDR4 memory with a clock rate of up to 2,933 megahertz and can even handle clock rates up to 3,466 MHz via OC. With a Ryzen 3000 processor (Matisse) it is 3,200 MHz and 4,133 MHz via OC.

An M.2 slot with PCIe connectivity is provided by the AM4 motherboard. M.2 SSDs with advanced NVM Express protocol (NVMe) and four PCI Express 3.0 lane connectivity are up to eight times faster than SATA 6G hard drives and support data transfer rates of up to 32 Gb / s. s. In addition, the motherboard has six SATA 6G connectors.

The MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max has two USB 3.1 ports with type A female connector on the I / O panel.
