This is useful, for example, if you often want to install and remove different graphics cards and do not want to damage the board slot, or want more space when commissioning the expansion cards.

It may also be necessary or useful to place PCI-Express expansion cards in unusual places in the case of modding projects or housings deviating from the usual ATX standard. A particular advantage of a riser cable is the possibility, for example, of positioning graphics cards individually and even mounting them parallel to the mainboard. The Lian Li PW-PCI-E-1 riser cable is about 300 mm long.
