The Gigabyte Z390 M in detail
The Gigabyte Z390 M is a micro ATX motherboard and provides a total of two PCIe x16 slots, one of which is connected to the chipset with a full 16 lanes, while the other is connected with four data lines. The motherboard offers two PCIe-x1 slots for additional plug-in and expansion cards. Several graphics cards can be used on the mainboard at the same time because it supports AMD CrossFire.

The four DIMM slots support up to 128 GB of DDR4 memory in dual-channel mode. The Z390 chipset natively supports clock rates up to 2666 MHz, but the Gigabyte Z390 M also enables the operation of RAM kits up to 4266 MHz using OC. Six SATA 6G ports and two M.2 slots are available for hard drives and SSDs. Both M.2 slots are connected to the chipset with four PCIe lanes and support the NVMe protocol, which enables data transfer rates of just under 4 GB / s. This means PCIe SSDs are up to eight times faster than SATA 6G SSDs!

Connections and special features
The Gigabyte Z390 M has a USB 3.0 port with a Type-C socket on the I / O panel. This innovative USB Type-C port is particularly thin and can be inserted on both sides. There is a USB 3.1 Type A connector above. USB 3.1 (or USB 3.2 Gen 2) achieves maximum speeds of 10 Gbit / s per port and USB ports with this standard generally support the quick charging function of smartphones and tablets.
