Details

This doubles the transmission speed of a PCI lane compared to PCI Express 3.0. This benefits above all NVMe M.2 SSDs, which are connected directly to the new Ryzen CPUs with four lanes. Theoretically, transmission speeds of up to 8 GBit / s are now possible. Gigabyte is one of the first manufacturers to offer the new AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSDs, which can take advantage of the new PCIe standard, which is especially reflected in the write speed, which is here at a maximum of 2,500 MB / s. Even in PCIe 3.0 systems, Gigabyte's new NVMe M.2 SSDs are faster than their predecessors.

The features of the AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 500 GB at a glance:
- Modern M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD with PCI Express 4.0 standard and NVMe 1.3
- Storage capacity of 500 gigabytes, 512 MB of DDR4 memory
- New controller Phison PS5016-E16 and BiCS4-TLC-NAND from Toshiba
- Maximum read speed of 5,000 MB / s and write speed of 2,500 MB / s
- Reading Maximum IOPS: 400K and Writing: 550K
- Including copper heat spreader
- Backward compatible with PCIe 3.0
- MTBF: 1.77 million hours, manufacturer's warranty: 5 years or 850 TBW (TB Written)

M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD with brute read and write speed
The new PS5016-E16 controller from Phison this hyper-fast drive supports four PCI Express lanes of the new standard 4.0, which make a theoretical maximum of about 8,000 MB / s possible! Internally, the controller is connected to the flash memory with eight lanes. Coupled with Toshiba's built-in BiCS4 TLC NAND, this 2 TB version of Gigabyte's AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD achieves tremendous 5,000 MB / s read and 2,500 MB / s write speeds, as well as fantastic IOPS values of 400,000 in 4KB Read or 550,000 in 4KB Write. There is also 512 MB of onboard DDR4 cache. Even on PCIe 3.0 systems, this M.2 NMVe memory bar is even faster than M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSDs.

Highly efficient 3D TLC NAND with 96 layers
In the case of the AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD BiCS4-TCL-NAND memory, the memory cells are cylindrically stacked in several layers. As a result, on the one hand, larger storage volumes with a higher reading and writing speed are possible with a smaller area of the storage blocks, on the other hand the life of the storage is increased and the energy efficiency is improved. Compared to its predecessor series, the AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSDs have 96 instead of 64 layers and, with a total capacity of 512 GB, are only populated on one side, which means they are more compatible and can be installed in many notebooks.

Includes heatspreader made of solid copper
The AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD adds a massive copper copper heatspreader to Gigabyte, which can be mounted if, for example, the motherboard does not have its own cooling options for M.2 SSDs. A total of 27 fins increase the surface area to dissipate heat more efficiently, regardless of whether the airflow flows vertically or horizontally or diagonally through the case. This improves the user experience, especially when transferring large files or using high-write applications.

The PS5016-E16 controller supports the latest NVMe 1.3 protocol, LDPC error correction, wear leveling, and over-provisioning to extend its life. As a result, Gigabyte can guarantee a Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF) of at least 1.77 million hours and a 5 year warranty or 850 TBW.

Technical details:
- Dimensions with heatspreader: 23.5 x 11.4 x 80.5 mm (W x H x D)
- Without heat spreader: 22 x 2.38 x 80 mm (W x H x D)
- Format and interface: M.2 / M-Key 2280 (PCIe 4.0 x4, NVMe 1.3)
