The TU104 graphics chip of the RTX 2080 Super is based on the Turing architecture, is manufactured using the 12 nm FinFET process and, in addition to the GDDR6 graphics memory, is responsible for the speed boost compared to the 10 series. The ray tracing technology used, which is also the reason for changing the name to GeForce RTX, provides particularly realistic light and shadow effects. In this super variant, the base clock was increased compared to the predecessor and the number of shader units (CUDA cores) increased from 2,944 to 3,072 and the ray tracing cores from 46 to 48.

The base clock of the EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Super XC Hybrid Gaming is 1,650 MHz, but with a high load the graphics chip automatically increases the clock rate via GPU Boost 4.0 to up to 1,830 MHz boost clock. The innovative and particularly fast GDDR6 video memory clocks at 7,750 MHz (effectively 15,500 MHz), while the capacity of 8 GB VRAM makes gaming with 4K resolution or in virtual reality a real pleasure. A hybrid of air and all-in-one water cooling with a 120 mm radiator is used as the cooler.
