The MX500 builds on these successes and delivers consistently higher transfer rates at a still attractive price. With the Silicon Motion's fast SM2258 controller and the fully integrated 64-layer Micron Micron TLC NAND, the MX500 series is up to date. The MX500 SSDs are available in different sizes, from 250 GB to 2 TB.

The 250 GB version offered here also has the new RAIN technology (Redundant Array of Independent NAND) maintained, which protects the data of the drive in a similar manner as the RAID technology with multiple drives. In addition, the new Crucial MX500 also supports encryption methods such as TCG Opal 2.0, IEEE-1667 and Microsoft eDrive thanks to the AES 256-bit hardware encryption - without sacrificing speed.

Fast read and write access
The M.2 SSD in this 250 GB variant communicates via the SATA 6G interface to fully leverage the speed of the 3D TLC NAND from Micron. Finally, the modern interface theoretically offers possible transfer rates of up to 600 MB / s - at these values the fast SSDs of Crucial scratch quite well.
