The integrated Xamp headphone amplifier offers individually pristine sound through individually amplified channels and is able to drive headphones between 16 and 600 ohms. The sound can be individually adjusted using the Sound Blaster Command software and the separate audio control module offers additional connections.

The heart of the Sound Blaster AE-9PE is the high-resolution ESS SABER Reference 9038 digital-to-analog converter, which provides the basis for high-quality sound with a signal-to-noise ratio of 129 dB and a resolution of up to 32-bit / 384 kHz. But all other components and signal paths are of the highest quality and shielded against interference frequencies by the EMI-Shield. With the headphone amplifier, each channel is amplified individually, resulting in particularly high fidelity. The Sound Blaster Command software also enables extensive sound adaptation with equalizers, surround effects or specific sound profiles for individual games.

A 5.1 surround system with Dolby Digital Live / DTS Connect Encoding can be supplied via the gold-plated connectors and the sound card offers a virtual 7.1 surround mode for stereo headphones. The Audio Control Module of the Playback Edition allows you to control the volume and allows you to easily switch between headphones and speakers. It also offers jack sockets for headphones and analog cinch inputs. With the SBX button, the user can switch the Sound Blaster processing on and off.
