Akasa's Plato X7D case is designed for seventh generation NUC boards, aka Dawson Canyon, and can be used either flat or directly attached to the monitor's VESA mounts. Specifically tailored to the said NUC boards, it is very space-saving and designed above all flat, but brings in addition to these purely practical point of view also a very noble look on the table or behind the monitor.
A brushed aluminum front makes the black Akasa Plato X7D a discreet yet stylish contemporary, which also lends itself well as a HTPC dwelling in any hi-fi landscape. The front only has four USB port openings, two LEDs and the on / off switch. On the back, next to an opening for a WLAN antenna, there is also a recess for a serial connection.
Top and outer edges are almost completely provided with aluminum cooling fins, which has its meaning in that the housing itself represents the radiator and requires no fans. That is, the NUC system works completely silently in the Akasa Plato X7D. For this, the CPU and a contact surface of the housing come into direct contact. In contrast to the Plato S7D, the Plato X7D is 1.5 cm deeper, the increased heat dissipation area further improves the TDP removal performance of the system inside, so the NUC board and the processor remain a little cooler.
Heat transfer pads are included for ideal heat transfer. In addition, VESA mounting screws, motherboard screws, rubber feet and all the necessary cables and accessories are included in order to operate the mini system (external power supply must be purchased separately!) And to install it in a VESA location. The waste heat then reaches the housing uniformly via the heatsink plate and is released via the lamellae to the ambient air - absolutely silent!
