In combination with a Ryzen CPU of the 3000 or 5000 series, the mainboard supports PCIe 4.0 for extremely fast graphics cards. With its ATX form factor, the ProArt B550-Creator fills the mainboard trays of common cases and offers numerous expansion options. The mainboard is primarily aimed at content creators, but is equally suitable as the motherboard of a gaming PC.

The ASUS ProArt B550-Creator in detail
The ProArt B550-Creator is an ATX mainboard with an Intel B550 chipset and provides a total of three PCIe x16 slots for expansion cards. The two upper slots are connected directly to the CPU with a total of 16 lanes and support PCIe 4.0. In order to withstand the weight of heavy high-end graphics cards, ASUS has also designed and reinforced both slots with metal.

Another PCIe x16 slot is electrically connected to the chipset with four lanes. Two additional PCIe x1 slots for expansion cards are connected to the chipset with PCIe 3.0.

random access memory
Up to 128 GB DDR4 memory can be operated in four DIMM slots in dual-channel mode. The board supports RAM speeds of 3,200 MHz natively, with overclocking up to 5,100 MHz is possible.

Drives
The ProArt B550-Creator offers a total of two M.2 slots for SSDs. One of them is connected directly to the CPU via PCIe 4.0. The other M.2 slot is connected to the chipset via PCIe 3.0. Four SATA 6G connections are also available for additional SSDs, hard disks and optical drives.

USB, network and sound
The I / O panel provides an HDMI 2.1 video output and two Thunderbolt 4 ports with DisplayPort 1.4 for image output via the processor's iGPU. Four USB 3.1 ports of type A (max. 10 Gbit / s) and two USB 2.0 ports are available for gaming peripherals. If the Thunderbolt 4 ports are not used for image output, two video output devices can be connected here via USB-C.

The audio is output via five 3.5 mm jack plugs and an optical S / PDIF output, which are connected to the Realtek S1220A sound chip. There are also two RJ-45 connections available for connection to the network, which, thanks to the Intel I225-V chipset, enable a fast connection at 2.5 Gbit / s.

design
The ProArt B550-Creator impresses with a very stylish, monochrome design with orange accents. The I / O cover pointing into the inside of the housing offers a milky-transparent plastic cover and is decorated with Power Up Your Imagination lettering. The shiny heat sink of the chipset rounds off the chic look. This makes the board suitable for a wide variety of builds.
