The ASUS PRIME B460M-A Micro-ATX motherboard has a PCIe-x16 slot that is connected to the chipset with a full 16 lanes. The board has two additional PCIe 3.0 x1 slots for plug-in and expansion cards.

The two M.2 slots connected via four PCIe 3.0 lanes support the NVMe protocol and, in combination with corresponding M.2 SSDs, enable a data transfer rate of just under 4 GB / s. This is about eight times faster than an SSD connected via SATA 6G! Additional drives such as SSDs, HDDs and optical drives can be connected via six SATA 3.0 ports.
