The hold down plate is reversable, so you can either have a completely clear block or use the black aluminium faceplate.

First time with building a custom loop so this was bought with a knowledge of the brand and for it's predominantly acrylic finish.
Can be used with or without the black insert/cover, I have mine on but have also utilised the twin LED lights either side of the block which can actually be hidden away quite well. I was concerned the wires would ruin a clean look but they are hardly noticeable.
Easy to install and came with thermal paste.
Very happy with the XSPC brand, also using their G1/4 14mm fittings.
