MSI Radeon RX 460 4G OC with factory OC & single fan cooler design

The Radeon RX 460's efficient Polaris 11 graphics chip contains 14 compute units with a total of 896 shader units. The GPU of the Radeon RX 460 single fan of MSI clocks in the boost clock with an average of 1.210 MHz. The 4 GB GDDR5 video memory clocks 3.500 MHz (7,000 MHz), is connected to the GPU (graphics chip) with a 128-bit memory interface and promises solid performance.

The MSI single fan cooler design is based on a large, semi-passive cooler with a fan, which has the heat development of the factory overclocking of the MSI Radeon RX 460 4G OC excellently under control. Only the PCIe slot is required for the power supply of the graphics card.

14 nm FinFET and GCN 1.3: The AMD Radeon RX 460

Thanks to the efficient 14-nm FinFET manufacturing process and extensive developments in control, current-saving and clock-pulse technologies, the Radeon RX 460 achieves impressive performance with a very low TDP of only 75 watts. The significantly improved efficiency can be seen above all in comparison with previous models like the Radeon R9 390 (250 Watt TDP). The reason for this is the 14 nm technology that allows more transistors to be housed on a smaller surface while the power requirement drops.

The fourth-generation, advanced Graphics Core Next architecture (GCN 1.3) introduces useful features such as a command processor, a geometry processor, new multimedia cores, an optimized display engine, and an improved memory controller. Other supported technologies include Async Compute, Vulkan, DirectX 12 and AMD's FreeSync technology.

Monitors can be connected to the graphics card via three paths. Display port, HDMI or DVI-D Dual-Link are available. With EyeFinity technology, up to three screens can be connected to the graphics card in a multi-display setup. The HDMI port in standard 2.0b transmits theoretical resolutions up to 4K / UHD at 60 hertz and has HDCP 2.2 for sending and receiving encrypted signals.

In order to exploit the full potential of the card in the future, new drivers from AMD or MSI should be downloaded and installed at regular intervals.
